My name is Teresa Whitaker and I am running for circuit court judge in Lincoln, Pulaski, and Rockcastle County.
I graduated from Western Kentucky University (1987) and the University of Kentucky School of Law (1990). Upon my graduation from UK Law School, I moved to Somerset, Kentucky and began my career of public service. I worked for the Department of Public Advocacy (DPA) as a Public Defender for 29 years. I was a staff attorney, a directing attorney, a regional manager, and the supervisor of the capital trial branch during these 29 years. After serving the Commonwealth of Kentucky for 29 years, I retired from DPA in July 2019.
During 29 years with DPA:
I represented thousands of citizens across the state of Kentucky
I was the attorney on over 100 jury trials
I was the attorney on 14 jury trials where the citizen was accused of murder
I was the attorney on 3 jury trials where the citizen was accused of capital murder and the government was seeking the death penalty
I have the courtroom experience and background needed to serve in the position of circuit court judge. I would be honored if you would help me continue to serve the people of the 28th Judicial Circuit. If you have any questions about me or my campaign, please let me know. You can contact me through Facebook (Teresa Whitaker).
